Everything You’ll Need To Complete an iTunes Restore

Updated: Jan 21, 2020

iPhone™ Stuck on this screen again? Here is a list of everything you need to complete a restore on your Apple iPhone™

In order to restore your device you will need:

1. High Speed Internet

2. A Desktop or Laptop with iTunes© installed

3. An MFI Certified Cable

Why is High-Speed Internet Necessary?

Without high speed internet present this restore can take up to 4 hours. There is also a possibility that the restore will fail multiple times in between if the WiFi signal is disturbed or weakened. With proper high speed internet a restore should take in between 20-45 minutes.

Why is a Desktop or Laptop Necessary?

Having access to a Desktop or Laptop is very important as it’s the only way consumers can restore their own iPhones for free. There are no known ways to complete a restore without the assistance of a Desktop or Laptop with iTunes installed.

Why is having an MFI Certified Cable Necessary?

What is MFi Certified and Does it Even Matter? Concisely put, MFi stands for “Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad” and is a certified licensing program by Apple for manufacturers/developers of hardware and software. For hardware, it basically means that the main component of that accessory is directly purchased from Apple. One main aspect is prevalent between MFi and non-MFi cables and that is when you’re connecting your device to iTunes. Regardless of the quality of high to low non-MFi cables, we experience about 75% of non-MFi cables not being able to update or modify your Apple device thru iTunes and sometimes, the non-MFi cable is not recognized by iTunes making room for restore errors and hours of headaches.
